S t o r m g l a s s is an old weather prediction device.

During this time of the year, in Ireland, the summer begins to give way to overcast skies, laden with thick cloud. The sun and the clouds play hide and seek in a seemingly endless game until all of a sudden it starts to rain and the weather changes into something completely unforeseen.

This change takes place seemingly continuously but also deceptively quickly sometimes. In some sense the pre conception of a storm is always possible but not the exact moment of its occurrence.

I have spent many a days, looking from my window at the weather change in myriad ways. Sometimes the rhythm of the day is defined by the flow of the wind, the change in the light and the sounds of the pouring rain, and its intensity.

There are some days , on it is possible to venture out into the vast terrain of Wicklow's rolling hills and mountains to truly catch a glimpse of how the weather changes. Some of the photographs show the beautiful landscapes of Ireland, that are revealed after short bursts of rain.

These are the sceneries and sights that no weather device can predict. Sometimes it just takes a moment for everything to change and appear in a new light.

The video for the track is inspired by some of these sceneries and documents a hike across some trails of Wicklow, Ireland

This track also features some unique audio experimentation. I have used time-stretched audio and a technique called granulation to achieve some of the sounds at the beginning and end of the track. I was fascinated by the idea of granulation ever since my studies at Trinity and it was nice to have a chance to apply the concept to this track. Essentially a single guitar chord is time stretched so as to reveal the intrinsic quality of the sound. Making it sound more like sound particles spread across the stereo space.
